The SLEEPOVER PARTY!

So here is the party all ready to go before we turned the movie on. We watched Ratatouille (a Disney movie) because we figured the kids that didn't speak English would still be entertained. They were absolutely silent during the movie eating their popcorn. When their popcorn ran out they became a little more squirmy but they made it all the way through and LOVED it. They asked us all the next day if we could do it again and we had to tell them we were leaving. Then they had a little music dance party afterwards before they went to bed. Mel and I had to leave because we had heard and seen the music DVD, which was good the first few times, about 40 million times by this point and we couldn't bring ourselves to hear it again so we went and got the library all ready for its grand opening the next and final day of our trip and the kids semester.

POPPPPPPCORN!

At the last night movie sleepover party we had popcorn. We couldn't even hold them out there anymore so we took a picture of me with the MASSIVE bag of popcorn that Panina made and started to dish it into bowls. They LOVED it and we did too. My favorite is that the first picture is of a kid that was getting her hair done and couldn't wait so she came in with her hair ready to be braided. That kid always made me laugh because she would blow me kissing and then when I would try to run in for a hug she would run away giggling and it was the cutest.

Random Pics from last night

The first picture is just Mel hanging out with Guidein, Revin, and Reagan. Then the other two were from the last night. There is a tradition there that when you leave you write notes. So I did it there and i did it in Zimbabwe and it was actually really nice becuase you get to tell people how much they mean to you and how great of people they are. So this is Revin holding up the note that Mel gave to him and he ABSOLUTLY LOVED her note. He made me take somewhere around 400 pictures of him and his note. The other picture is when i made the kids do the ABC dance that they do to the alphabet and i LOVE that dance. They will do anything for a picture.

In Dorm Room

Before watching the movie we were playing and taking pictures of the kids playing in the girls dorm room. The boys came over just because it was a special occasion otherwise they are not allowed in the girls dorm room. I love the first picture of Reagan jumping on Mel because with Reagan you know not to be in a submissive position or things could go horribly wrong fast like he would start really jumping on you with his feet and on your face like what started to happen to Mel. He is a lively one but he makes you laugh so hard!

TV exploration

The children don't have a tv anywhere around but when we brought ours up from the house they saw it and the little ones spent forever investigating the tv. They were laughing because they could see their reflection and they LOVEEEEEEE seeing their reflection (in a mirror, your camera, sunglasses, and now a tv screen). It was fun to just watch them walk around it and check it all out.

Prayers and Hugs on the last night

When we went up to stay over night we got hugs and hung out with some of our favorites as you can see my Johnas being mischievous and chewing on my necklace. Then went to night prayers. They stand in a circle outside and sing and read from the bible and anyone can say a prayer if they choose to. I had to stand back here with my camera or else they would always make me say something in the prayer circle...Mel is wearing very shiny PJ pants...we of course were cold and they had shorts on, and in the day we are sweating and they have winter jackets on.

Orphanage Sleep Over Party

Melanie and I (after taking Teresa to the hospital) came home and showered and got all our sleeping gear, armed with bug spray, a mosquito net, and our own water and brought up two BIG mattress (which we planned to donate to the girls part of the dorm (after we slept over on them)because 6-7 of the girls sleep on the floor at night. Each bed has about 3-4 girls in it and they still need 6 on the floor. So we decided to have a sleep over party, which turned out to be perfect timing becuase it was the night before their last day of school before their holiday break for 2 weeks. The pictures are of us bringing the mattress up and then trying it out. So we brought up our tv, dvd player, and Pinina (on of the mothers of about 5) cooked LOADS of popcorn. We suprised the kids by coming back up to the orphanage int he middle of the night with our pjs on and told them we had a suprise. We set up a movie and everyone got popcorn while they watched. We all had a GREAT time. We were having the grand opening of the LIbrary the next day so once the movie was over Mel and I went to the library to decorate and clean it up. I will post the Libarary all finished and the kids enjoying it later. The kids absolutly loved the movie and popcorn and asked us all the next day if we could come for another sleep over. THe only problem was they TIRED us OUT. They went to bed at like midnight or 1am and then at 5am one of the older girls gets up and sings everyone else up and then as they are getting up they all join in. It is the BEST way i have ever woken up in the morning. They also set Mel and my mosquito net up and drapped it over our mattress that we were goign to donate so we felt like we were in a palace. There is a picture of the palace. It was the greatest expereince to have the children so honored that we would stay over with them that when we woke up they were all still staring at us. Mel and I had a GREAT time that night but it made it soooooooo hard to leave. It was the ultimate sleep over!
