our WHEELS and the Lodge
So first off is our WHEELS! It was our Land Rover and only had one door and if you didn't want to squish in the front seat for comfort (or warmth on drives at night when it was cold) then you could sit in the back on metal seats that felt AMAZING when you went over a bump, which there are of course none of on dirt roads and threw grass fields. But it is still my dream car...I LOVE old land rovers, they just remind me of what a rustic car should be. Then the first real day at Imire Safari Ranch we drove over to the Lodge where guests come and stay at when they come on a safari. Because of the turmoil surrounding Zimbabwe they have to only advertise to Africans but it is an truly comforting and adoring place. I got the chance to have dinner and see what it was like for people who were staying there and I was in love. I am jealous of all the people that can visit there (even though i love the manual labor part of the volunteer program too). The first picture is of the rooms/bungalows where the guests stay, then the courtyard/field area where guests can chill out. Miceala is walking towards that open field that has a fence and Enzo (which means Elephant) who is the elephant who thinks she is a buffalo (I will talk about the confused animals that live at Imire later) comes up to to see guests with her heard of buffalo. The last picture (which I guess would be different now as there has been construction on it) is John's house. John is a young guy who used to have his family tobacco farm next to this farm until it was taken away from his family, so now he works here and runs the lodge. His house is my favorite....because of the door and the vines and it is really different. He is great at running the lodge and makes everyone have a wonderful time and feel so at home when they are there. John also has a TV which we didn't so we had fun going over to hang out, watch games, or movies. John is fun to hang out with because he is honest, funny, and a really good hearted guy (plus he has TV and usually more electrical power then we do), oh and he gives me chocolate and grape Fanta....i mean come on!
